Mission Trip

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.'" - Acts 1:8

Tonight, I will be going with 8 other members of Harbor Presbyterian Church on a mission trip to India and Ethiopia. It is a blessing to be a part of this and I am humbled that the Lord chose me for this. It's a little weird, just getting back from Young Life Camp a couple days ago, which was amazing, but the two experiences will be completely different. It was good to be able to enjoy the week there before heading out on this trip.

Our trip will be from June 26 to July 12. We will be in India until July 4 and in Ethiopia from July 5 to 11. In India, we will partner with the organization, Sower of Seeds (www.sowerofseeds.org), and will be visiting schools that provide education, food, clothing, medical check-ups, and mentoring for 3-6 year old children from the slums. We will also visit homes that house and care for children and women who have been saved out of the red-light district of Mumbai. In Ethiopia, we will partner with the organization, World Orphans (www.worldorphans.org), and we will provide home-based care to children, which includes food, clothing, medical care, and school fees, so that children can stay in their homes and thrive.

Please be a part of this by helping through prayer. Pray for the safety and unity of our team, through the Spirit, and for us to abide in Him so that we may be able to do His work. Pray for our hearts, that we may have his heart for the people there and have strength. The people who will be on this trip are Bob, Brietta, Jamie, Jed, Karen, Kelsie, Melissa, Rob, and myself. Prayer is powerful so please pray for us. If you would like to donate and be a part of Harbor's investment in India and Ethiopia, you can do so on the Harbor Mira Mesa website (www.harbormiramesa.org) by choosing "World Missions" in the drop down list under "Donate."

I talked about how I feel about this trip in my last post, and it's still the same. I am excited for this, but at the same time it's a sobering feeling. I have been looking forward to this for a couple months and I know it will grow me, just by seeing first-hand and being in the midst of the destruction taking place in other parts of the world. If you would like to talk to me or ask any questions, just shoot me an e-mail or wait until we get back. Hopefully, I will be able to keep you updated while we are over there, but if not it's only a couple of weeks. I look forward to sharing everything when we get back.

In Christ,
Eric Trieu

"The Lord replies, “I have seen violence done to the helpless,
and I have heard the groans of the poor.
Now I will rise up to rescue them,
as they have longed for me to do.” - Psalm 12:5
