A New Season

It's been a long time. I've been thinking about bringing this blog back for a while. Now I'm finally doing it. And I think the maturation I've gone through over the past year or so will help me do this better. I was looking at my old posts and laughed a little bit because I noticed how immature I was back then, and I'm sure a while from now when I'm looking back at these posts the same thing will happen. I even considered taking those posts off if I was going to restart this blog, but decided to keep them, whether or not I disagree with some of the things I said, because it will be a way to see how God is working in my life and constantly growing me (if anyone is crazy enough to want to read back that far). I want to be more consistent with this than I was before. No excuses about time because we always have time for what we make time for. Plus, I have plenty of free time anyways.

A few reasons for wanting to blog: I guess having this platform allows me to have a voice and sort of express myself. I also enjoy writing and have a borderline obsession with words. As I continue to write though this medium, I want to sharpen that craft and grow as a writer. That can only come with practice right? And with all the junk throughout the Internet nowadays, I want to leverage this small space for the glory of God. I pray  He will use my seemingly insignificant voice to be a light, pointing to the Great God.

For those of you who have read my blog before, thank you. You will also notice the title is different. As I considered bringing this back I wanted it to have a new title. And that was actually one of the things which kept me from doing it. My other choice before deciding on this was Life and Doctrine. But I wanted to spice it up a little so, for now, the title is CHRIST, rhymes, & Life. Kudos to you who know where I got the inspiration from. So in this post let me briefly explain why I chose this title.

CHRIST. Romans 11:36 says "For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen" (ESV). My life is not about me; it's about Him. Matter of fact, everything in the universe is for His glory. I want to exalt Him through this blog. God and the Gospel are central in my life, so it would be wrong not to talk about what I love and value the most. As I continue to walk with Him, dig into His Word, and grow in knowledge, I will share it. Throughout my blog, Scripture has often been the basis for my posts and I will continue to highlight it. Soli Deo Gloria.

rhymes. Music, and specifically hip-hop, was and continues to be one of the greatest influences and teachers in my life. There are plenty of artists who have played a huge role in my walk with God. And honestly, if I could be a skilled artist I would. I want to be able to share some of those rhymes which impact me and maybe even some of my work (Don't count on it though. I never finish anything).

Life. I want this to be personal. My life is an open book. God is constantly working in my life and I want to share it with others. I am going to share experiences from my life, hoping they would impact yours. It's easy to talk about ideas, concepts, or even parrot what I've heard from others, but all those should ultimately have a bearing on our lives. Life is crazy and I want to be real and talk about it, not as a means of exalting myself, but to point to Christ.

"Watch your life and doctrine closely." - 1 Timothy 4:16 (NIV)
